You sound like you may be better suited for a parole officer where you can communicate and deal with the kids who have gone astray. Your teaching and school teaching background would make you an excellent candidate for this position. We need police officers, but we also need people like you to become parole officers, so these people do not go back into the life of crime. You should consider all these things - look at the whole picture.

Bubba Shot the Jukebox by Mark Chesnutt:

Well, the sheriff arrived with his bathrobe on

The confrontation was a tense one

Shook his head said, "Bubba Boy,"

"You was always a dense one."

Reckless discharge of a gun

That's what the officers are claiming

Bubba hollered, "Reckless! Hell!"

"I hit just where I was aiming."
