5. Christmas Cookies - George Strait - very cute song in which George explains why he eats Christmas Cookies all year long.

4. I Only Want You For Christmas - Alan Jackson - simple message and pure country, delivered in a holiday flare.

3. Hard Candy Christmas - Dolly Parton - from the soundtrack to The Best Little Whore House in Texas comes this timeless treasure.

2. The Kid - Clink Black - off of Clint's "Christmas With You" album, it's a great ballad that'll make you 5 years old again.

1. Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee - time tested, it's now a staple of radio stations for all genres during the holiday season.

thistle hair the christmas bear-Alabama

lyrics

The city's full of manger scenes

And stores lit up in red and green.

But down the road just out of town

There's more magic to be found.

The countryside is all a-glow

With holly trees and mistletoe.

And in them woods there lives a bear

Known to all as Thistlehair.

Chorus:

Oh, Thistlehair the Christmas bear

Spreadin' the good news everywhere.

About Christmas time and what it means

To all the children of the world.

Every little boy and girl out there,

Love Thistlehair.

He comes around this time of year

Spreading lots of Christmas cheer.

The kids all love this shiny coat

And the smell of honey on his nose.

He tells them all about that star

And everything that it stands for.

The birthday we all celebrate

Is still our favorite holiday.

Chorus:

Oh, Thistlehair the Christmas bear

Spreadin' the good news everywhere.

About Christmas time and what it means

To all the children of the world.

Every little boy and girl out there,

loves Thistlehair.

Wherever you find old Thistlebear

There'll be music in the air.

He dances 'round the Christmas tree

Every single New Year's eve.

Then he and all his furry friends

Gather 'Round the fire again

Singin' 'Bout those Angels' wings

Gifts of love that Christmas brings.

Chorus:

Oh, Thistlehair the Christmas bear

Spreadin' the good news everywhere.

About Christmas time and what it means

To all the children of the world.

Every little boy and girl out there,

Love Thistlehair.

Thistlehair the Christmas bear

Spreadin' the good news everywhere.

About Christmas time and what it means

To all the children of the world.

Thistlehair the Christmas bear

Spreadin' the good news everywhere.

About Christmas time and what it means

To all the children of the world.

Thistlehair the Christmas bear

Spreadin' the good news everywhere...

there is also LeRoy the Redneck Reindeer by Joe Diffe. My personal favorite is a tie between Montgomery Gentry's Merry Christmas from the family (love those KY boys) and All I Want for Christmas (Is a Real Good Tan) by Kenny Chesney.

Oh, man, do I know country Christmas songs. Some of my favorites:

Ding A Ling The Christmas Bell by Lynn Anderson

Christmas In Dixie by Alabama

Old Toy Trains by Roger Miller (or Glen Campbell)

Silver Bells by Sonny James

O Little Town Of Bethlehem by Tammy Wynette

O Little Town Of Bethlehem by Marty Robbins

O Come All Ye Faithful by Jim Reeves

Mary's Little Boy Child by Jim Reeves

Here Was A Man by Tex Ritter (Chills me to the bone)

Away In A Manger by Chet Atkins

Christmastime Down South by Charlie Daniels

Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy by Buck Owens

Christmas Time's A Comin' by Jerry Reed

Light Of The Stable by Emmylou Harris -- it's not Christmastime until I hear that one.

I could go on and on and on until Christmas Eve. I highly recommend anything on this list, though.

Not sure about the country songs, but I recently downloaded some popular Christmas soundtracks from Google and they all are so good. Just search for Christmas songs in Google and you will find the list.

Dashing through the snow

In a one-horse open sleigh

O’er the fields we go

Laughing all the way

Bells on bobtail ring’

Making spirits bright

What fun it is to ride and sing

A sleighing song tonight!

Jingle bells, jingle bells,

Jingle all the way.

Oh! what fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh.

Jingle bells, jingle bells,

Jingle all the way;

Oh! what fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh.

A day or two ago

I thought I’d take a ride

And soon, Miss Fanny Bright

Was seated by my side,

The horse was lean and lank

Misfortune seemed his lot

He got into a drifted bank

And then we got upsot.

A day or two ago,

The story I must tell

I went out on the snow,

And on my back I fell;

A gent was riding by

In a one-horse open sleigh,

He laughed as there I sprawling lie,

But quickly drove away.

Now the ground is white

Go it while you’re young,

Take the girls tonight

and sing this sleighing song;

Just get a bobtailed bay

Two forty as his speed

Hitch him to an open sleigh

And crack! you’ll take the lead.

Toby Keith just put out a new Christmas album that is really good. It's regular Christmas songs, sung mostly by Toby, but some other people too. (Go Tell it on the Mountain is on CMT a lot)

Don't know if it's a "fun" one, but Garth Brooks' "The Friendly Beasts" is a superbly beautiful song, as each member of his band sings as though they are one of the animals in the manger where Jesus was born.
