(I may regret asking this but...) Which one do you like better, and why? For those of you who have only ever heard of Taylor, before you answer, please listen to some Loretta.. (fist city, mad mrs. leroy brown, you ain't woman enough to take my man, family tree, woman's prison) Anyway if you don't know one or the other, don't say the one you do know just to answer. Please listen to both and compare before judging. Thanks.

That's like asking which is better, filet mignon or alfalfa sprouts.

Loretta Lynn.

WHY: first and foremost, she is COUNTRY. Much like a famous quote about Waylon Jennings, Loretta couldn't go pop with a mouth full of firecrackers. Secondly, longevity. Loretta will still be around when Taylor's in the "where are they now" segment of "Entertainment Tonight." Thirdly, Loretta had to earn her success with talent, while Swift is a product of media hype.

Finally, and most importantly, the quality. Swift's songs sound exactly like what they are: teen pop fluff. When Loretta was young she was writing songs that have endured for 40-plus years. When Swift gives us a song like "Coal Miner's Daughter" or "Blue Kentucky Girl" I may change my mind, but I'm not holding my breath.

I grew up listening to Loretta Lynn and many others from that era of country music. I'm old enough to slightly remember her Crisco commercials on TV. I was about 5 or 6 at the time. So, she has acting talent. She is an amazing song writer. Probably her most famous song of all time is Coal Miner's Daughter. I love her duets with Conway Twitty. Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man is one of my favorite duets she did with Conway. I also like the song she did with Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton in the 90's, It was called Silver Threads and Golden Needles. I had the opportunity to see her in concert at our local fair. She did a great job keeping the concert entertaining. She is very talented.

Taylor Swift is a very talented young lady. She writes some amazing lyrics for such a young person. I love her music. She will be around for a long time. I'm sure she will someday be the reigning queen of country music, but for now Loretta Lynn reigns.

I definately like Loretta better. I did give Taylor Swift a chance when she first started. I actually liked her song Tim McGraw, but she's just so pop and all her other songs sound the same. Plus, now that they have ways to make them sound better in a studio, anyone can write a song and become famous. Loretta can sing live, Taylor can't.

thank you, i mandatory the snicker. Loretta. the only reason Taylor fast can't admit that Loretta Lynn is greater effective is Taylor fast would not understand something approximately united states of america and could no longer tell Loretta Lynn from Loretta Swit. Neither can maximum of her followers.

Gotta go Loretta on this one. They both have a few similarities like starting out so young, but Loretta is the better singer and she sings country.Plus her songs have stood the test of time and she is an icon.I don't see that happening for Taylor.I don't even see her being on the radio 5 years from now.

Lisa, my girl. As a fellow Hank Williams fan, you have to know my answer would be Loretta. As Hank III says in Dick in Dixie: "you know that pop country really sucks." :)
