The Statler Brothers in 1973 sang the song: Whatever happened to Randolph Scott .I think it hold true of today’s music & entertainment industry

Everybody knows when you go to the show

You can't take the kids along

You've gotta read the paper

And know the code of GPG and R and X

And you gotta know what the movie's about

Before you even go

Tex Ritter's gone and Disney's dead

And the screen is filled with sex

Whatever happened to Randolph Scott

Ridin' the train alone

Whatever happened to Gene and Tex

And Roy and Rex, The Durango Kid

Oh, whatever happened to Randolph Scott

His horse plain as could be

Whatever happened to Randolph Scott

Has happened to the best of me

Everybody's tryin' to make a comment

About our doubts and fears

True Grit's the only movie

I've really understood in years

You gotta take your analyst along

To see if it's fit to see

Whatever happened to Randolph Scott

Has happened to the industry

Whatever happened to Johnny Mack Brown

And Alan Rocky Lane

Whatever happened to Lash LaRue

I'd love to see them again

Whatever happened to Smiley Burnette

Tim Holt and Gene Autry

Whatever happened to all of these

Has happened to the best of me

Whatever happened to Randolph Scott

Has happened to the industry

Today's country is just 2nd rate southern rock. It stinks. The last good country was in the early 90's with Garth, Patty Loveless and Alan Jackson. They're still making CD's, but no one is promoting them anymore. I'm still buying them and they're still as "country" as ever. People eat whatever they're fed. This goes for music. You feed them garbage, they'll eat garbage. I don't hear fiddles or steel guitars anymore. It's up to the studios to change it back. The founding fathers of country are turning in their graves seeing what their music has become.

its awful what they're doing to country music!! who really wants to see bobby brown, dee snider, or any of the others butcher country music more than is already being done!!!? i mean we already have to deal with the likes of the pop stars like taylor swift and carrie underwood. maybe there will be a backlash and country music will turn back into country music and not some type of pop crap.

i think alan and george had it right: murder on music row.

united states song was good using fact the final 6 years it has appeared to circulate down hill rapid. It appears like present day rock no longer united states. the hot so stated as united states artist sound like they're below the impression of alcohol or on something. desire totally it gets back to the previous united states sound from the previous due 1950es to the early 1960es. i'm happy I even have my previous tapes, information, and cds.

Yes, and we can blame John Rich and his muzik mafia for bringing this to our homes. He and his muzik without borders theme is down right sickening. I always thought John was a great writer, but this bringing diffrent genres together to make music... to me, should be left alone.
