Help Choosing Classic Country Top Picks?

I've bought an ipod for my husband and am wanting to fill it with his favorite music - classic country. This not being my thing, I was hoping for some help. Of course I've know the basics - Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, George Jones, but I was hoping for other suggestions and of these artists which are the BEST albums? Your help is a lifesaver!
