So I think this will be a mess anyway. But I have a question. I see Hank Williams name on the list, who's to say if anyone will sing his song, (i hope they don't because they will RUIN it!) But anyway. Hank Sr is not a member of the Grand Ole Opry, he was, but he was fired from there, and never reinstated. So how can they use his name & song on this list? It reads the contestants choose from songs by people who ARE members of the Grand Ole Opry, not who WERE members? They don't reinstate him, but they sure do use his name a lot......

I don't watch AI. I consider it one of the reasons that all genres of music have sunk to new lows in terms of quality.

As for what they'll do on AI: they'll use 99.999% new stuff and the obligatory "Hey Good Lookin'" or "Crazy."

Regarding Hank, I think Shel Silverstein wrote the most accurate indictment against the "Nashville establishment" (which Bobby Bare recorded):

"Nashville is rough on the living

But she really speaks well of the dead."

You're absolutely right, Lisa; it seems Hank was used left and right not only during his all too short life but today as well. Thank goodness Hank III tries to carry on the tradition. Somewhere I think Sr. is smiling on his grandson.

That show (Idol) sorta makes up their own rules as they go along,lol..I kinda doubt any of them will sing one of his songs either, they will most likely stick to the newer ones.Although I think it would be pretty neat if a couple of them DID recognize a few of the classics if they could actualy sing em good. That screeching gay cross dresser Adam that their all in love with is going to kill something though.

Hey, this is far better than last year when on Country week they had to do all Dolly Parton songs.Dudes having to sing Dolly.. It was the most horrid thing I ever saw!!

what i find funny about the list is carrie underwood has 6 songs on there to pick from(the most) and has the shortest career of any of them i think. hank will always be one of the icons that defines country music and it's a shame he is not a member, it will probably be another train wreck. do not watch it

I love his grandson's work and so would he, the grandson put down and even hates the Grand Ole Opry, and even has me thinking the same way.

take care
