Don't You Think We Need A Classic Country Section?

Question

I think it would be a great asset to YA if we had a music section entitled Classic Country. SOME people don't realize that this is an entire different genre of music as opposed to today's so-called Country music. Also, when some people don't like it when they feel stupid about a subject, they start giving thumbs down to knowledgeable people who know a thing or two about real country and western music, Nashville, the artists, etc. This serves as a deterrent for those who are so blessed to proffer any extra information for the rest of us. And I truly enjoy hearing about what's going on in Tennessee from TommyCollins myself, and Okie is a great Classic fan, too. If we can ALL agree that there needs to be a separate page for Country and Classic Country, then why don't we e-mail YA and ask for one? Can we all agree on this?

I posted this link before and got reported because apparently it was considered against yahoo guidelines. I think they called it...shoot...oh..soliciting. I guess it is fair to put it here since it is in direct response to your question. There needs to be enough outcry and votes on this when you go to it in order to get a reply from an yahoo administrator so make sure you comment and vote if you are in agreement with the subject at hand.

The Fanbase isn't large enough statement is certianly not true. Separating the 2 ?genres? would help. I don't know enough about most of the classic country to answer alot of the ?s. I agree with separating the 2. Like you said they are entirely different from each other. Today's country leans toward being more pop than country. And classic country is all about the oldies. There's history in classic country. and the new stuff just mostly relies on the classics to make it seem country.

I don't feel stupid about any subject. I'm smart enough to know that I don't know much about anything, just my own life experience and what has worked for me. I'm also smart enough to do some research and admit it even if I'm likely to get a thumbs down for saying I had to look it up.

I've always love history and classic country has alot of history behind it. Getting to answer questions and read information about songs I like and don't know much about is kinda fun and interesting. Also, I don't much care for alot of the new stuff and have no interest in the ?s about it. That's why I go to country to find ?s about country, not rock, not blue grass, not gospel, not whatever.

I enjoy reading things about others' experience with the classic country music and interesting history behind. I also hate having to sort through all the Taylor Swift ?s just to find one about classic country music.



Yes, I think there should be a Classic Country Section..

If I knew how to get e-mail YA about this I would and you can even use my answer as back up for getting the section going.I'm sure others would say the same thing. The one's giving a thumbs down most likely only care about the newer stuff and think that it's all the same when truly it's not all the same.

The lovers of the classical country need their own space.Sure as I have read and answered questions I see the younger members of this forum that don't remember the greats that put country music on the map..

Keep the classic sounds of country music flowing to be enjoyed by all.

I agree with you 100% and also asked the same question to yahoo with no response. There appears to be lots of interest in classic country music by the number of responses received from questions.

yes I agree. It upsets me, when Sunday I went to the country music hall of fame. What did I see? Memrobilia form Big and RIch, and Garth Brooks and (vomit in throat) Vince Gill. Face it, and I hate to say it, when it comes to nashville and the establishment, classic country, and the groups trying to keep real country alivve, is a dying breed.

I thought of that too. I think it might help seperate the "New Country" and the "Classic Country" questions. Maybe people could just get the answer their after, instead of all the flack they get for liking/not liking the "New" country (Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift). I like both, so none of the questions get me fired up (lol).

yes i agree with you there some of these so called new country singers half of them cannot sing, and as you say its not good country more rock and i never listen to it any way ive heard of their names of some but prefer the good old country singers that really mean what they are singing

I don't really care because I like the old and the new. Classic is great but I give everything new a chance because it is all country. True country fans love the old and the new. I think that it should all be together in one section.

We have already tried that and they responded that they had no plans at present to do that. There were several of us who signed on asking for it but as I said no luck. I hope my answer wasn't considered a rambling one.
