George Jones-Alcoholic/Drug addict/ WIFE BEATER
Johnny Paycheck-Herion addict
Waylon Jennings-Cocaine addict for 27 years
Willie Nelson-Drug addict and still is today plus he ADVOCATES the use of drugs

Roy Clark- Pill Popper
Johhny Cash- More Drugs
David Allan Coe-Drug Addict-Alcoholic
Keith Whitley-Alcoholic

List is pretty much endless

Role Models? I can't think of any music stars - country or otherwise that were (or are) by any stretch a role model.

You sound like you are looking for reasons to dislike the artists you have listed. I get into music I enjoy - don't care much about what they do when not recording. Doesn't affect me.

If I had to base an artists talent on their reputation I would be listening to songs from the early 1920's - '30's. (And that could be questionable as well)

You make a little of a point but at the same time a lot of those with problems that you mentioned, the public didn't know untill years later.Whatever the amount of kids that did look up to them didn't know. Plus Joe Nichols and Billy Currington just recently had rehab stints. And I'm sure a few years down the road, we will hear a lot of others that had problems that kept it under wraps.

And I seen the other question vanish, this place does seem bad at reporting. The only questions that I ever had deleted came from here.I have appealed and always got them back, which is good because the ones who keep reporting over nothing will eventually lose all of their power.

I'd have to agree with the person above. If these kids now a days are using these entertainers as their role models maybe they need to be in rehab. What example are these entertainers showing anyway if it's not sleeping late, staying up till all hours of the morning, partying, and drinking. They hold no jobs, unless you call standing on stage for an hour and a half each night a job. They put on a facade each night for these kids that make them think that if only they could themselves just have a piece of what they are having they would be happy. When in reality you can ask any of these top performers who have been in the business long enough and I bet they would tell you that their life is nothing to be modeling your life after. If they want to have role models they should stick to real people who do something fora living like doctors, nurses, mom's & dad's. Blue collar workers who bust their A$$ each day to make a living. Not after some musician who sleeps all day and parties all night.

Well that's 8 of about 10,000.

There is going to be some sort of abuse in every form of music and country is no exception. So sa for role models, for love of the music I'll take the classic coountry artist.

IF YOU WANT A ROLE MODEL FIND ONE IN A TEACHER OR COACH. COUNTRY LEGENDS SUCH AS GEORGE JONES AND THE OTHERS YOU HAVE MENTIONED MAY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS BUT THEY HAD/HAVE MORE TALENT THE NEW COUNTRY ARTISTS TODAY AND THATS UNDESPUTED BY MOST PEOPLE IN THE BUSINESS. THESE GUYS LIVED THE SONGS THEY WERE SINGING AND MADE THIER LIVING OFF THIER TALENT, NOT A PRETTY FACE AND A COOL MUSIC VIDEO.

OH YEAH LAST I KNEW KEITH URBAN JUST CHECKED OUT OF REHAB AND TY HERNDON... WELL HE GOT ARRESTED FOR DOING SOMETHING NASTY IN A PARK.

Todays artist are young and appealing to the younger crowd so I would say todays.

Alot of the artist on your yesterdays list started young too, and were appealing to the target audience of their there time.

They did'nt start out with the drugs and alcohol they just went through that phase. Take a look at todays role models say 20 years from now.

everyone has problems, hardly anyone is a good role model...Brittney and Jamie Spears? It's not just country... You can dig something out of almost anyone...
