BQ: what did you think of the album 'Three Hanks: Men with Broken Hearts' which has all three singing? I think Hank 3 sounds amazingly like his grandfather! Today is the eve of the anniv. of Hank's death (Jan. 1, 1953). RIP Hank! You surely had little in life.

I would think he would be proud of both of them. I know some people probably said he'd be offended by his grandsons music. But I don't agree. I think he did things his own way, and would be proud that 3 is doing what he wants to. Not conforming to what everyone else thinks he "should" be. Hank 3 is also big into the reinstate hank campaign. Which I have never seen any other Williams family member promote. I actually was listening to the album "men w/ broken hearts" today. I was full on Hank Williams all weekend long. Sr is my favorite singer, and always will be. I love that album. Honky Tonk Blues is probably my favorite on that album. When they blend Sr & 3's voices together, its hard to tell them apart. And as of midnight on new years Hank 3 is free from his contract w/ Curb Records, so he will have total control of his music now, which I am excited about. I know he had said he has plans for a country album, as well as one for his metal band. I really enjoy when he sings more traditional sounding music, but also enjoy the more rockin' music as well.

back in the 70's after hank had his accident. he was in the hospital, don't know if he almost died or not, but hank jr said daddy come to me and said play/sing whats in your heart. that changed everything for hank jr.

its why he wrote "whiskey bent n hell" and "Family Tradition" bound.and the others too.

what i've heard about hank 3 is he was a punk rocker for years even today, but he still plays and sings/records his grand daddy's music.

I think he would be proud of both of them and Holly too but I think he would be put off by Jr's rock influence and III's vulgarity. I think he would view Holly's music most favorably because her style is most traditional.

BQ: The Three Hanks album was kind of a mess but Jr did it to give III a career boost and I think Hank would be so proud of him for that.

Thanks for the reminder, I am a fan of Hank Sr. but not as big fan of Hank Jr. But I'm a bigger fan Hank 3rd. I love what he stands for, and how open minded he is.

take care

Thanks for the info! I did not know that Hank Sr.died on the 1st. I only heard Hank 3 sing once with his dad on a tv special yrs.ago I thought he sounded ALOT like his grandfather! I think he would be proud of Hank jr. although he might not agree with all of the songs that he sings.I think he would be happy that he has his on style and is his own man! From what Ive heard about Hank 3 Im not so sure he would agree with his music..well some of it anyway,he may not view it so well,.but who knows? Now that I know that the 1st.in the anniv.of Hanks death Im going to have to listen to him.I cant stop thinking about him now,so thank you.He will never be forgotten!! .Heres to the Great..Hank Williams!! and yes,may he rest in peace..
