Shelby Wooley was an actor in approximately 60 movies and TV... usually as a bit actor. From "The Lone Ranger" series to "Rio Bravo" with John Wayne.
He was also a wonderfully funny song writer who took contemporary songs and made parodies of them.... I remember best, his version of "Hello Walls"
"(bang)... Hello wall, I didn't see you standing there
Did I hurt ya?.. Boy did I sure hit you square !
Well, now one of us is plastered.... And I guess you know which one........"
Sheb was one of the original members of Hee-Haw.
Sadly, he died in 2003.... He will be missed.

Of course! When I was a kid he gave us "Purple People Eater," and in the early 70s did a hysterically funny parody of "Fifteen Years Ago" called "Fifteen Beers Ago."

Along with the other songs mentioned he also did a version of "Almost Persuaded". Maybe this is where Wierd Al got his inspiration.
