...and who's your favorite classic country artist? What I mean by 'classic' is anything before the 1980s. I'd have to say my favorite is Willie Nelson.

Was raised on classic country. Some of my favorites are Mel Tillis, Kenny Rogers, Cal Smith,Patsy Cline. All are great artists. It's a shame we are made to listen to what Nashville considers country today.

I am a hard core classic country music fan. I love all of the old stuff. In fact I'm watching a show on RFD TV with people singing "Apartment #9" Tammy Wynett's daughter sang it.

My favorite is Charlie Pride. Along with many of the top singers , Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Vern Gosdin, George Jones, Lefty Fritzell, etec.

Yes, I grew up listening to country music in the 60s and 70s.

I like almost all of it. My favorites include Barbara Mandrell, Porter Wagoner, Dolly Parton, Jean Shepard, Jeanne Pruett, Ronnie Milsap, Waylon, Tom T. Hall..oh I could go on and on.

After more than 20 years in the radio business, I finally launched my own station..which plays mostly classic country!

Waylon Jennings is my all time favorite. I don't even have to think twice on that one...lol Not a day goes by that I don't listen to at least one song by him. I have a great fondness for Willie also and when you put the two together with Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash, what could be better. I wish the Highwaymen had put together more than three albums, I just loved them together

Its the best of the best. Without our classic country artists, there would be no country music at all. And I think people forget that, and take it for granted. When people say things like "i like new country just not that twangy old stuff" I want to scream. HELLO! you wouldn't have your precious 'new' country without "that twangy old stuff". Which, by the way, I love. Hank Sr is my favorite singer of all time. I think that's been said a million times. lol. But I'll say it a million more! Peace, Love, & Hank Williams!

Country music is not my fav (especially the tear-in-your-beer type), but there is a lot of the earlier, cross-over music that I really do like.

I've seen Willie Nelson perform in Plains, and he put on a wonderful show!! He's one person I think would be fun to spend an afternoon with!!

And one of the best & most entertainig performances I've ever seen was by Roy Clark (a real oldie). He really appreciated his fans and wow, can he play!!!!!!!

Yes, I am a fan of classic country, but I also like modern country. As for my favorite classic country artist, I would have to go with Jerry Reed, who is also one of my all-time favorite guitarists, regardless of genre. I was shocked when I heard of his passing back in September! It's also a shame how underrated Jerry Reed is as a guitarist, but at least guys like session guitarist Brent Mason and solo artist Brad Paisley still appreciate Reed's playing! Rock guitarist Eric Johnson actually has a song called "Tribute to Jerry Reed" and, recently, Brad Paisley had a rock instrumental called "Cliffs if Rock City" which was a tribute to Eric Johnson...anyway, Reed was a great guitarist and a great country artist!
