Lyrics to this country song?

I know the song is "Good Direction" by Billy Currington, and i know most of the song. The very last line frustrates me though. All of the lyrics sites i go to say that its "thank god for good directions, and turnip greens". But for some reason that just doesnt make sense to me, and i could swear he says "turn arounds" and not turnip greens. turn arounds would make more sense to me because the lady uses a turn around to come back to him. does anyone else out there think the same thing??

(i know this may seem a bit strange but my mom and i have been arguing over it for a while. lol )

lol...I have the lyrics but he does say "turnip greens" He is sitting on the side of the road selling them out of his truck when the women comes up and asks him for directions. He let her go without getting her name but sent her up to his mom's place for tea (Belle) and she gave her directions back to where he was selling turnip greens...ie "thank god for good directions and turnip greens."

BILLY CURRINGTON LYRICS

"Good Directions"

I was sittin' there sellin' turnips on a flatbed truck

Crunchin' on a pork rind when she pulled up

She had to be thinkin' "This is where Rednecks come from"

She had Hollywood written on her license plate

She was lost and lookin' for the interstate

Needin' directions and I was the man for the job

[Chorus]

I told her way up yonder past the caution light

There's a little country store with an old Coke sign

You gotta stop in and ask Miss Belle for some of her sweet tea

Then a left will take you to the interstate

But a right will bring you right back here to me

I was sittin' there thinkin' 'bout her pretty face

Kickin' myself for not catchin' her name

I threw my hat and thought, "You fool, that could've been love"

I knew my old Ford couldn't run her down

She probably didn't like me anyhow

So I watched her disappear in a cloud of dust.

[Chorus]

I told her way up yonder past the caution light

There's a little country store with an old Coke sign

You gotta stop in and ask Miss Belle for some of her sweet tea

Then a left will take you to the interstate

But a right will bring you right back here to me

Is this Georgia heat playin' tricks on me

Or am I really seein' what I think I see

The woman of my dreams comin' back to me

She went way up yonder past the caution light

Don't know why, but somethin' felt right

When she stopped in and asked Miss Belle for some of her sweet tea

Mama gave her a big 'ol glass and sent her right back here to me

Thank God for good directions and turnip greens

I've linked to the CD in the sources section. Here's the complete lyrics:

was sittin' there sellin' turnips on a flatbed truck

Crunchin' or a pork rind when she pulled up

She had to be thinkin' "This is where the rednecks come from"

She had Hollywood written on her license plate

She was lost and lookin' for the interstate

Needin' directions and I was the man for the job

[Chorus]

I told her way up yonder past the caution light

There's a little country store with an old Coke sign

You gotta stop in and ask Miss Bell for some of her sweet tea

Then a left will take you to the interstate

But a right will bring you right back here to me

I was sittin' there thinkin' 'bout her pretty face

Kickin' myself for not catchin' her name

I threw my hat and thought, "You fool, that coulda been love"

You need to listen to the beginning of the song more closely. He is selling turnip greens on the side of the road. If he wasn't she couldn't have stop and ask him for direction. That's why the last line is "thank god for good directions, and turnip greens". And that makes more sense then turn arounds.

It's turnip greens. The song starts out saying

I was sitting there selling turnips on a flat bed truck,

crunchin on a pork rind when she pulled up.

He's thankful that he was selling turnip greens which was the way he got to meet her.

In this case Isabella, your mom is right. He is saying "turnip greens". At the beginning of the song, he's on the side of the road selling them. That's how he saw the girl......she stopped and asked him for directions.

No. It IS turnip greens. He is thankful for turnips because he was on the side of the road selling turnips when the girl drove up... If he hadn't been selling turnips, they never would have met.

ok, i can explain to you why he says turnip greens and how it makes sense. the very first line of the song says "sellin' turnips on a flatbed truck", and she sees the turnips, thinkin' the redneck can give her directions. so at the end, he says "Thank God for good directions(which made her come back to him), and turnip greens(because that's wut caught her attention and caused her to go to him in the first place)

i hope this answers your question and helps ya.
