Is it just me, or did Taylor Swift write SIX songs about John Mayer on "Speak Now"?!?

Forgive me, but I'm a bit of a Swiftie. After poring over her new album, I have a theory that six of these songs are about John Mayer. They are:

Dear John (confirmed)
The Story of Us (confirmed)
Haunted
Ours
Superman
If This Was a Movie

I also think that the new lyrics in "Sparks Fly" are inspired by him as well, which I suppose brings the total to 6-and-a-half.

I think she dated John, he broke up with her, she dated Taylor, then after she broke up with him, she and John dated again until she dumped him.

[I know I will hear from a bunch of people who will tell me that I am overthinking this (but they will say it in a much ruder way). My advice to those people would be to stop trolling and to go ahead and get your OWN life and not piss all over Taylor Swift fans having fun...and to remember how long you talked about the plot of "Inception" with all your friends after you saw it. This really isn't too different.]

So, fellow Swifties, what do you think of my theory? Do you have any alternate interpretations of her song lyrics?

Actually both Dear John & The Story of Us are both confirmed, Taylor said so herself in an interview.



I'm not sure about the others but really the last 3 aren't actually part of the album...they are just songs Target added to their special edition album



*EDIT: sorry Hope <3, The Story of Us was NEVER said to be about Taylor Lautner, that would be Back to December. And although you are correct about her not confirming herself WHO any of the songs are specifically about, Dear John was confirmed to be about John Mayer and then Taylor said herself in an interview that both Dear John and The Story of Us are about the same person. Superman and Ours I would agree 100% on (and obviously Dear John and Story of Us).



Haunted - I think has to be. This is actually where I would point out the timeline. It's too dark to have been about Joe and sounds like an in person breakup. (With Taylor Lautner being the rebound she references)



If this was a movie - I'm 99% sure is about the singer from Boys Like Girls (Martin Johnson). Same guy that Love Story, White Horse, Come in With the Rain (and probably You're Not Sorry, Breathe and The Way I Loved You). They have a lot of common themes around fairy tales and happy endings as well as a few particular references to him throwing pebbles at her window, a fight that was really bad and ended with him standing outside her window in the rain, and an unconventional ending (supposedly their publicists ended the relationship bc they weren't good for each other's image). She probably just wrote or finished it later or it didn't make the Fearless album.

Shes Taylor Swift that's how she does it! if you really want to make songs like hers, just express yourself on a piece of paper. Its gonna be along time before you can be like Taylor Swift because shes been writing songs since she was little. your not gonna like the first song you write anyways so just open yourself up and write anything down! Eventually you'll get something that you will like! Hope this helped..

I was totally thinking the same thing! I knew dear john was about mayer and the story of us had to be about him because I don't think any of her other exes would have been at the cmt awards. Ours has to be about him because it mentions how her dad hates his tattoos and apparently mayer has a gap between two of his bottom teeth. superman mentions his bad reputation and says "i loved you from the very first day". I don't think sparks fly is about him because it mentions green eyes, i don't know who that could be about because all the exes of hers that i know of have brown eyes. Haunted might be about jonas and saying he "taylor" might make her smile but she wishes it was him "joe" instead unless she dated mayer two times like you said? I didn't think any rumors about her and mayer started until after she broke up with taylor though.



Who do you think mine is about? The notes say Toby but I think its just cause he was in her music video. I'm hoping its about cory monteith because i love him and that would make the song even better!



I have no idea who long live is about. Do you think its about a boy or just the people she toured with in her band?

No only Dear John is confirmed they said so themselves.



And she wrote sparks fly way before she started dating John Mayer.



In the song 'ours' it says "cause i love the gap between your teeth" John Mayer doesnt have a gap between his teeth.



Superman & If this was a movie could be about absolutely anybody in the world that Taylor Swift knows. Preferably somebody that goes to work.



im not trolling whatever that means but im just saying you should wait till taylor swift anounces these things herself if she wants the world to know she will tell if not her choice.

But none have been confirmed by Swift hersels.
