Question:
Do you hate country music?

It's possibly the least creative genre of music. Also, it's self absorbed junk. Anybody hate country music as much as me?

Why is this under the country music section? Of course nobody is going to hate country music in this section. Did you know that country is the most popular music listen to? You obviously have no taste. There are so many creative songs! For example Brad Paisley's "Online" that is a really creative song. Not to mention our music isn't a cuss word for every other word in the song! Our music has great stories and morals in them and some songs are just plain fun and they have wonderful beats! If you can't like country music then that is your problem because it is the best type of music in the universe! Who care about Cowboy Troy and Larry the Cable Guy! Give country a music a chance because EVERYONE LOVES IT! I recommend Brad Paisley.

What a heck of a question to be asking in this particular forum. If you want to listen to pure country music the way it should be then you can't judge real country by today's artists. The artists of today are by and large just a bunch of pretty faces with a cowboy hat or a pretty lady with a nice pair of boots. Go back to the 1930's through the 1970's to get a real glimpse at what real country music is supposed to be. Sadly, what is being force fed today as country music is not country at all. If you want to talk about real country music you would have to mention Jimmie Rodgers, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Hank Thompson, Charley Pride, Lefty Frizzell, Ernest Tubb, and yes even Tommy Collins among countless others who were and are real country artists in every since of the word. A lot of today's so-called country artists can't even play a chord on a guitar so they just stand there and warble like a calf that has been struck by hail in a storm and dying. Thank God for real country music.

Of course it isn't creative anymore, it has been overrun by Pop music and Nashville has sold out. That was the whole point to the song Murder on Music Row a few years back. So yeah it all sounds the same, but that is what you get with Pop music, a souled(yeah intentional version of the spelling before the grammar police ask) out music style. My question is why do you listen to it if you don't like it? Why go to the Country music section of Yahoo Answers to announce you don't like it? I don't like Rap music, so I don't go to that section. I think Gangsta Rap is all the same, and doubt that most of them believe it the way the O.G.s did. I think that the current group is mostly a bunch of guys making it rich off what sells and they have no clue what the real lifestyle is about. I listened to rock growing up and I liked the Glam Rock or Hair Bands or whatever you want to call them. Do you really think that wasn't a bunch of prepackaged music? Music hasn't changed. If you really think that the music you listen to is so creative I'd like to know what genre it is, because I really doubt that it isn't the same prepackaged music that most are putting out. If it is you must listen to Indie Music that you don't get on the Radio. The Music Industry doesn't support being creative anymore. They run the radios now, you can't just take a Demo to the station and get them to play it like in the 60s and such.

Well, today' country and music in general sucks. I'm no country expert at all, but I am a big music head. One band that I think is really good is the Mothertruckers. I'm sure there are some creative country band out there if you look hard enough. It's just like rap, I thought I hate all rap because all they did was talk about rims, hoes, shorty's, money, ect, then I descovered "underground rap", such as: Detron, Hieroglyphics. Just be open minded.

Since corporations have turned Nashville into Music Ruination Row, the talented country artists are never heard, just fashion models posing as entertainers.

Steve Earle, Charlie Robison, Lucinda Williams and many others put out creative, issue-driven country as well as traditional topics of lost love, etc.

But corporate country stinks to the top of the Smokey Mountains.

Edit: Travis Tritt is pop country. Don't include his name alongside the others. It was hilarious watching him try to play bluegrass. He's just another nasal entertainer who plunders classic rock songs like the rest of the losers on Ruination Row.

These days, the producers and writers appeal to the lowest common denominator, just reinforcing rightwing views, everyone has to sing about how they went to a tiny church or grandpa was so wise, blah blah blah. I'll give Tim McGraw and Dwight Yoakam credit for staying country, but the rest use a rock beat and horrid backup musicians with heavy handed producers to produce endless songs that all sound the same.

Some of Country music is very uncreative but so is a lot of music now a days. For example. Has anyone actually listen to the new hit by I believe T-pain? "Bartender," He says... "I bet you heard I hardly ever come out." "I don't drink I don't smoke that s why I don't be by the bar baby." And then in the same song he says. "Triple shot of patron with a little bit of lime baby," and then he says "just keeping it real" Kind of lame all the music is nice.

Or how about all the different pop songs that repeat and repeat or say a total of 6 words through out the entire song... But have you ever heard country songs like "that was a river, this is the ocean," or "How do you like me now?" These songs have quite a very decent sound to them. But, many people are just afraid to like country music, because you have to be a white, fat bastard with a special love for your family members right. Wrong. i love Ice Cube, Josh Groban, Marilyn Manson, And THE DIXIE CHICKS...So there u go...

Its not country music what you hear on "top 40"radio.You want real country listen to Hank Williams Jr,Johnny Cash,Travis Tritt.I hate the "pop" country the radio executive's and record producers are passing as country music.Give the latest American Idol winner a contract a try to pass him/her off as country.

What? I think maybe you haven't given it a chance. It may be a bit different, but it can be pretty awesome.

I fail to see how it is self-absorbed? Country can be about love, loss of love, death, birth, marriage, pain, fun times, memories, etc. I don't see how that is plain and uncreative.

AND, MOST people who listen to country music are not like Larry the Cable Guy...don't let that fool you!

I used to think country was the most boring most horrible music in the whole wide world. I would have rather stick pins in my eyes. I hated to drive in the car with my grandmother. Until one day i heard the most amazing song ever! I was in the car and hit a station and heard "Once in a Lifetime" by Keith Urban♥ that night i went to itunes bought that song and other songs he sang and from that night on i just can't get enough! i am so addicted to country music and Keith Urban is my favorite artist in the whole wide world. And i love it cuz hes not just country hes a country rock. so even if you don't like country you have to love Keith Urban. I regret everything i ever said about country music. I don't even listen to anything else but country. my radio is set to all country stations. my favorite t.v. stations are gac and cmt. Country one of the few generes in music that are real that don't just talk about sex and have profanity. Country may talk about the same things like getting your dog back and about your ex-wife but atlest it is true music. not saying that other music isn't but country is just really good. now i love riding in the car with my grandmother and one day i hope i go visit nashville or even move their! and its all thanks to Keith Urban and his wonderful music and amazing talants. May he countiue to inspire others to expand their music preferances and rock out!♥

Just because you don't care for a specific genre of music is no reason to publicly ridicule it.

I don't care for rap or hip hop, but I know there's a genuine market for it.

As for being "self-absorbed", your diatribe proves that you are the one who has the need to denigrate others' musical choices as being "ignorant".

"Look behind your own soul and the person that you see just might remind you of me"

That's from the song "Not That Different" sung by Collin Raye.

Hardly "ignorant" by any standard.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go find my coon dog and hop in my truck so I can sneak down to the local bar to meet my sister's husband for our public affair to continue.

You sound pretty self-absorbed yourself, and a bit ignorant as well. You're not the only person who feels that way about country, for sure, but you definitely have not been exposed to it enough to realize that you are mistaken.

For one, have you actually listened to a lot of other genres? "Creative" can be big or it can be "subtle". If you are unfamiliar with "country", of course it will seem to you that it sounds mostly the same. So would rap, blues, bluegrass, classical, r&b (the new generation of it sounds all the same to me!), etc.

I'm not a big country fan, but there are songs that I just love -- even some of the real corny ones. Understand -- the singers think these songs are a bit funny too. The most depressing, "self-absorbed" songs are ultimately sung to make the listeners (or even the songwriter) feel better and possibly not drink themselves to death while cleaning their guns. The words often use ironic phrases and puns for their "hooks" (e.g. "a good-hearted woman in love with a good-timing man"). If you don't get the humor, it may because you are too self-absorbed to keep you from expanding your mind.

Rap music is worse.

If you listen to a variety of rap songs, you find that the general subject for them is always hanging in the crib, doing drugs, wearing bling, drinking alcohol, and getting laid.

Hip-hop's pretty bad, too.

I like most types of music. But I can't even begin to like Heavy Metal or Rap. Anyone who doesn't know how to play a guitar can do Heavy Metal. And I won't even begin on Rap Crap.
