Question:
Why do people say that country music is depressing?

Why do so many people claim that country music is depressing since I've never even heard a single country song that can be classified as depressing. I think even songs like "Mama tried" by Merle Haggard and "I hung my head" by Johnny Cash can be classified as more of those introspective types (kind of like "Paradise" by Phil Collins, maybe the story is kind of sad but it makes you think about certain things in a certain perspective rather than making you break down and cry). Is George Strait depressing? What about Kenny Chesney? Which cheating song by Mark Chesnutt is depressing? What about drinking songs with Tracy Bryd? Is Alabama depressing? Is Brad Paisley depressing? What about Willie Nelson, can you think of any of his songs that are depressing?

Please name a couple songs (Real country songs before 2010 please) that you think are depressing, because I think I'm missing a whole chunk of it.

Why do people say that country music is depressing?

Because it's still around. That's why.

I don't believe nation tune is depressing in any respect. There are some songs here and there which might be miserable, but rather a lot are not. Nation music is about life, and love, and telling studies with the tune. I love country track, it can be regularly all I take heed to, but i am now not depressed at all. A few of my new favorite country songs are stuck Like Glue via Sugarland, Groovy Little summer song - James Otto, Mine - Taylor Swift. These songs aren't depressing at all, and are only a few examples. In any case, what i'm seeking to say is, there are songs out there which are depressing, but I believe there are depressing songs in every style in the market.

REAL country music can be really depressing, have you ever heard Hank Williams? That man made some seriouse heartbreaking stuff. I would recomand that you try out;

I'm so lonesome I could cry - Hank Williams

I just told mama goodbye - Hank Williams

I dreamed about mama last night - Hank Williams

Lost highway - Hank Williams

Can't help to wonder where I'm bound - Johnny Cash

Hurt - Johnny Cash (It's a cover of NIN, but still)

I See a darkness - Johnny Cash

Sunday morning coming down - Kris Kristofferson

Help me make it through the night - Kris Kristofferson

When I Call Your Name - Vince Gill

He stopped loving her today - George Jones

If drinking don't kill me (her memory will) - George Jones

And, you should also check out Willie Nelson's newest album, it's called "Heroes". It's really great, he even does a cover of Pearl Jam and Coldplay.

I LOVE country music, and think it's grossly misjudged in many ways, especially this. Most of our songs are uplifting and actually mean something! However...

You have to admit that some of our songs our just pitiful! Unrequited love songs - half of which are Dolly Parton's (love her!), cheating songs, suicide songs - Brad Paisley - Whiskey Lullaby?! 'The little girl'? 'Alyssa Lies', 'Don't tell mama I was drinking', Skin - Rascall Flatts...

Country songs want to create emotions, make you feel something and sad songs will do that to you, that's why I love them.

Everyone has their own opinions when it comes to music-that's one of the beauties of it. For some people, I think country music really hits home for them. For example, I feel like I can relate to country a lot-that's part of why I love it so much. If I'm having a bad day or have a broken heart or am remembering a lost loved one and sometimes it's hard for me to describe exactly what I'm feeling. Then I find a country song related to how I'm feeling and within a few minutes, that song sums up exactly what I'm feeling and I feel understood. I feel like a handful of people feel this way about country music as well. It's so relateable...so deep...so real.

People who say that are the people who do not like any country music and prefer to listen to non-music like RAP.

Maybe they like modern crap commercial music like One Direction, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and stuff like that.
