I hate country but I love this song. I understand the whole song accept the end. Who did the wife shoot?

I think the rest of the song is about a husband who was cheating on his wife and there was a storm coming and the wife was waiting for him to get home and she was hoping that it was the storm that was taking him so long not that he was cheating. Then he comes home and she runs outside and hugs him then she smells the perfume of another women and looks at him and lighting strikes and she runs inside and gets the pistol from the drawer. then Garth sings
"Tells the lady in the mirror
He won't do this again
Cause tonight will be the last time
She'll wonder where he's been"

That could either mean two things, either she was talking to herself in the mirror and then shot herself because you cant wonder where someones been if you're dead. OR she shot him because she wont have to wonder where hes been if he's in the grave.

That ending originally wasn't on there. Garth added that verse to the song for one of his many Greatest Hits collections.

Originally the scary chord after "He knows that she knows" was supposed to imply the end, that she kills him. It was also made very clear in the music video way back when.

LOL!!! Ok so Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks is COMPLETELY inappropriate for a wedding. The song is about cheating and then killing a cheating husband do you really want that to be played at your wedding? I would recommend you check out some other songs by Garth Brooks, I mean he has a big enough song selection that you can definitely find something but do not and I repeat do not do Thunder Rolls.

Hmm. I have that song on my ipod, but I don't remember the ending... I'm gonna go listen to it then come back.

Oh, okay. I have the shorter version. It sounds like she shot him though. She's not going to wonder where he's been, because she shot his butt and burried him in the backyard.

She shot him.

If she shot herself he COULD technically do it again. But not if he's dead.
