GAC vs. CMT? Why?????

When I say CMT, CMT Pure Country does NOT count.

Anyway, which channel is better and why?

I like them both but GAC still has the Grand 'Ol Opry whereas CMT doesn't.

I honestly don't know, because my cable company has never offered GAC, and they eliminated CMT over a year ago. Before that, I used to enjoy watching videos and countdowns on CMT.

Now, there are too many ridiculous reality shows on CMT, so I have a feeling I would probably like GAC better.

I wish I did get CMT we only get GAC and yes they do play more music but it's all newer country and is usually the same songs every hour. If I could choose which station I could get I would love CMT!



Also CMT has some good shows as well. GAC only has the Grand O'l Opry. I want My Big Redneck Wedding!

I had a free preview of GAC one time for 2 weeks from my sat.dish provider and it was 100 times better than CMT. It's on the next tier and I can't see paying that much money for only one more channel I like.Unlike CMT,all of their shows revolve around Country music..It's pretty much like CMT was back in the 90's,when all THEY did was play music.And everytime I scroll through their programming guide, nothing but MUSIC shows are on.NOT My Redneck Wedding or Wife Swap!



And btw, I don't think CMT even shows "Pure Country" anymore. (Unless you're talking about that horrible movie staring George Strait)



EDIT: I had no idea a CMT channel like that even existed.I know they used to have a thing called "Pure Country" where they would show,well, pure country videos for like an hour or 2.They used to also have something called "Wide Open Country" that featured Alt-Country videos.Haven't seen either in ages.

I prefer GAC, because it plays more music than anything else. I wish my dorm got GAC. CMT used to be good, then it started playing all that reality crap and other shows that I don't like. The only time I can find actual music is in the morning (when I have the majority of my classes.) So GAC.

I haven't seen GAC in years but, from what I did view of it it seemed to be better music video wise as CMT has changed to showing a lot of reality stuff and reruns of these shows as well as the same movies. I do enjoy the crossroads show and I was getting into the Gone Country show. I prefer to watch or should I say listen to my sirius radio stations that way I can listen to whatever country music I want rather it be the roadhouse, bluegrass, classic county, outlaw, etc. it's just music plus the announcers do add some little tidbits of info. from time to time. They're equally good in their own rite depending on the mood you're in and what your interests are. I'd have to go with a version of half/half. LOL I know it's not possible but, if it was there you'd have it.

CMT--i like watching acceptable 20 countdown and CMT Insider are my sought after shows. CMT has a large variety of large programing, and CMT shows alot of varitety of movies from previous classics to the hot technology of us of a. CMT has accomplished some large interviews besides as GAC.

GAC is better. I don't really like CMT anymore because they play all those shows now like Trading Spouses, and Extreme Makeover Home Edition and all those other shows! doesn't CMT stand for Country Music Television!?

I would say GAC only because it shows more Brad Paisley specials and music videos than CMT. I like CMT too because it does show some good things.

I like cmt's country music stuff better but i dont like some of the other shows that come on the channel. Overall i do think CMT is better though.

Personal I like AFN (Artist and Fans Network) because they show country video all day but between CMT and GAC I will go with GAC because they show more Videos and they don't have as many Non-Country Music show on like CMT does Now

I am not sure on that one. GAC only plays new pop country, unless its the opry or master series. CMT never plays music except for the dumb Taylor or Carrie. I am going with GAC since LUKE BRYAN does some commercial things for that station.

I watch both occasionally, and don't really have a preference. I like "Power Picks" on CMT, and "The Year" on GAC.

("The Year" is a show that plays only videos from a certain year.)

GAC, they are actually a music station, CMT hardly plays any videos and kinda of stupid shows

CMT, I grew up with that country station. GAC just doesnt hold my interest for some reason.

GAC. CMT, has more shows like, "My Bing Redneck Wedding" and "Wife Swap" While GAC is music, only like a little bit of it is actually a show and when they does happen they are talking ABOUT the music! So yeah..........GAC! :D

living in canada cmt is all we get and it sucks. thankfully i have satellite and there is a channel that plays continuous country classics so i listen to that and i have it on my computer also.

.....GAC does play more music (be it a lot of pop sounding) they do play more music and videos and none of the movies that are shown a dozen times a week.
